I start grad school in 30 days. While I wish it were only 2 days, sadly, it is not. I keep waking up everyday, thinking I need to pack my bag, trek it down to Amtrak, and start my two-hour commute to SFSU. Which, by the way, is not as bad as it sounds. That’s two hours I get to spend knitting, reading, listening to music… whatever my little heart desires. Except for, you know, non-train appropriate behaviors, like karaoke.

I wasn’t really in a grad school state of mind until I went to campus yesterday to meet with the chair of my department. I walked around the campus for awhile - beautiful, but tiny, especially when compared to the mammoth that is UC Davis. I came home and whipped out the credit card and purchased all of the books for one of my classes ($220 - holy mother of god, think how much yarn I could have bought!). Unfortunately, there are no listings posted for my other two classes.

While I was in San Francisco, I stopped by Imagiknit to do some final stash enhancement before classes start next month. This will, sadly, be the last of my yarn splurges in the coming months. My yarn budget will be down to roughly 1 skein of sock yarn per month, which is laughable compared to what I’ve been buying recently.

Soon to be a lovely winter hat for Boyfriend to wear when he snowboards/participates in holiday golf tournaments.

I also broke the bank a little and bought some Dream in Color Classy in Blue Lagoon for a sweater. While I probably should not have spent that much at such a crucial time in my budgeting, I feel it will be worth it when I finish whatever I decide to knit with it.

I keep trying to tell myself that school hasn’t started yet, and I need to stop staying up late and obsessively reading, knitting, and analyzing pop culture. But nothing seems to do the trick.

I guess I’m just in a grad school state of mind.
