I am offering this service up for people who want to create a blog on an ad-free site where they have maximum control, but want to pay a minimum price. Many newer bloggers are paying $30+/month for plans with services, features, and space that they don’t even use. I offer services specifically for bloggers that only have the features they need and want. Because of this, I am able to offer affordable plans. Plus, you can pay me in yarn! (No, really, you can. It’s on a case-by-case basis, see below.)
I’ve been hosting websites for friends since the early 2000s, but I’ve only recently decided to open up my hosting services to others. Currently, I host several knitting blogs (and one amazing non-knitting blog), but you site doesn’t have to be about knitting, crafting, or feminism to be hosted with me. You must comply with the terms and conditions (will be posted soon, still working the kinks out of my draft, but the standard rules apply. If you’d like to see the agreement immediately, please email me) and manage your space and bandwidth accordingly, but other than that, there are no restrictions on being hosted with me.
You may upgrade or downgrade your plan for the next month, provided you give me 5 days notice (if you are upgrading to a stand-alone plan, I require 10 days notice due to processing time). I will send you an invoice prior to the upgrade for the prorated amount of your upgrade for the remaining months. All accounts require a one year commitment, after which they may be cancelled or renewed.
All plans can be used on either a stand-alone domain or a subdomain.
- Stand-alone domain: you must purchase your own domain and I host it. You can have unlimited subdomains, email addresses, etc, as long as you stay within your hosting plan’s space and bandwidth parameters. This is not a reseller plan. If you resell your subdomains, your account may be suspended.
- Subdomain: your choice of subdomain name hosted on feministy.com or anythings.org.
All plans include the following features (included in price, unless specified):
- One free installation of WordPress*
- Subdomains will receive 1 email account @ feministy.com or anythings.org, your choice. You may choose between a forwarder or web based (through the GMail web interface).
- Stand-alone domains will receive 1 forwarding email account @ feministy.com or anythings.org, your choice.
- (Optional) Stand-alone domains have the option or setting up their own web based email access through Google web apps. I will set this up for you for an additional one-time fee of $10 (you will not be charged this fee unless you select this option). However, you may set this up yourself. If you choose to set this up yourself, I am unable to provide technical support.
- 1 FTP account for subdomains, unlimited for stand-alone domains.
- Full CGI access, as well as PHP 5.
- Subdomains will receive 1 MySQL database with free set-up. Stand-alone domains will have unlimited MySQL domains, with 1 free set-up.

Hosting Plans:
Baby Basic Blog Plan, Only $1/month!
Ideal for people newer to blogging who don’t mind hosting their images on a third party service, such a Flickr. This plan comes with a free installation of the TanTan Flickr photo album plugin for seamless integration of your Flickr account into your blog. While 120mb of storage space may sound small, it is more than enough for any blog with images hosted on a third party service.
$12/year, 120MB storage space, and unmetered bandwidth.**
Toddler Basic Blog Plan
Identical to the Baby Basic Blog Plan, only with more space. You will have plenty of space to blog, as well as upload many images. This plan also comes with a free installation of the TanTan Flickr photo album plugin for seamless integration of your Flickr account into your blog.
$36/year, 360MB storage space, and 5GB bandwidth/month.
Not Your Grandma’s Blogging Plan
A plan for people who want a more comprehensive site and the ability to host numerous images on their website, rather than a third party service. If you pay yearly, you get 2 months free ($80/year versus $96/year when paying monthly)!
$8/month, 800MB storage space, 10GB bandwidth/month.
Big Mama Blogger Plan
For bloggers who want tons of storage space and bandwidth! Oodles of space and bandwidth, so you have plenty of room to play. Pay yearly and save with two months free ($150/year versus $180/year when paying monthly)!
$15/month, 2GB storage space, 30GB bandwidth/month.
Yes, you can pay me in yarn! I have a yarn addiction, and I rarely have the income to support it. While my monthly funds are already allocated for my hosting services, I don’t always have money leftover for yarn. Approval is on a case-by-case basis, and is typically only good for the first year, unless you “prepay” by sending enough to trade for multiple years.
The only restrictions are that the yarn be new and unused, not mohair, approved for trade by me, and worth a similar value to your hosting plan when purchased at a LYS or online yarn store. I prefer sock yarns, but I love lace and Malabrigo (in any weight) as well, but I’m flexible to your offerings. You can pay with multiple skeins of different yarn, your hand dyed/spun, etc. It is a good way to stash bust and get something fun out of it in the process!
Please note that this is on a case-by-case basis, and I can’t allow everyone to pay for their hosting plans with yarn. Don’t take my denial of your offer as an indication that I do not want you to sign up for a plan, or that I dislike what you’re offering up for trade!

** The Basic Blogging Plan comes with unmetered bandwidth, which means your bandwidth will not be recorded or measured unless you exceed 2GB of bandwidth per month. It is assumed that because of the plan’s small size and starter level, you will not be hosting bandwidth-heavy items on your website.
