I’m looking for sample knitters for various types of garments. These positions do not pay, but you are provided with yarn for the project. After completing the object, you will mail it to me for photographing and inspection.
I am also looking for test knitters. This position also does not pay. Test knitters will knit the pattern with their own yarn and send me editorial feedback on the pattern, as well as provide me with photos of your completed object (which may be used in the published pattern).
The requirements for both sample and test knitters are as follows:
- Intermediate to advanced (not afraid of complex sock and garment construction)
- Knowledge of lace, cables, chart reading, etc
- Proofreading skills
- No disclosure or photos of the knitted item to be published online
- Must be able to complete the item within the time frame set
The requirements for sample knitters are as follows:
- Item must be mailed to me for photographing and inspection.
Sample knitters will get:
- A draft copy of the pattern
- Enough yarn to complete the project
- Return postage to send the finished object back to me
- This is not a paying position
- A final draft of the pattern when it is released
- One additional “for sale” pattern will be given to you for free
Test knitters will get:
- A draft copy of the pattern
- A final draft of the pattern when it is released
- One additional “for sale” pattern will be given to you for free
To apply, send an email to liz.abinante@gmail.com with the following information:
- Names of people who have test knitted for before, if applicable
- Link to your project page on Ravelry – OR – photos of your work
- Name and email address
- Age
- Location (city, state, and country)
- Number of years knitting
- Favorite things to knit
- Average turn around time for: a pair of socks, lace scarf or wrap, and sweater
- Do you prefer to sample or test knit?
I’ll be “hiring” test knitters on an ongoing basis from now through September. If you have any questions, please contact me at the address above.

Welcome to feministy.com, the website of designer Liz Abinante. I like to design fashionable knitwear garments and accessories for women. I also teach. I try to design each pattern with multiple options so knitters can use a different yarn, gauge, or needle to create the project of their dreams.

I’d love to test knit for you but don’t know if I’m good enough (I guess that might answer the question!). I used to knit a lot for the kids when they were small and then stopped for about 10 years. I’ve just started again and have done a lot of socks, some lace – which I’m about to do more of. A pair of socks usually takes me about a week depending on my work schedule. I’m not sure I’ve got the time for adult size jumpers at the moment.
I don’t suppose I’m what you’re looking for but let me know if I can help. You can find me on Ravelry as JeanHT.
Ah yes, and I’m in France which might be too far away from you!
