I have a lot of friends expecting babies and friends who have babies. I’m not really sure how this happened as I’m closer to 21 than I am to 25 (ok, not technically true, I’m in the middle), but I love my friends and (most of) their babies.
So seeing as how I’m currently blessed with an abundance of spare time and am averaging a finished object every 4-5 days, I figured why not pick up the needles and knit something for one of the babies?
I knit Helena, the wildly popular baby pattern from Knitty. I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to knit it up again for my other friends with babies.
Sure, I think it’s cute enough, but there are other patterns out there I want to try. I for sure won’t be knitting with the yarn I used ever again. It’s kind of soft after washing, but it’s thick and thin and stubbly and just awful. It’s not nearly as soft as a merino, cashmere, and silk blend should be from any reputable yarn company.
It was a waste of my money and I still have 4 balls (plus dyed yarn for my Fiddlehead Mittens) to deal with.
But whatever.
So I have the baby sweater done, and I dyed it up after it was finished. Which, in retrospect, not the best idea, since it doesn’t quite fit into any of my dye pots. I made do, however, and here it is in all of its lime green glory.
Sorry, no live action real baby included shots. She’s not due for a few more months. I included a “before” dyeing shot though, that should make up for it.

(Still drying, but nevertheless, accurate.)
Pattern: Helena, Knitty Summer 2008
