I’m learning Ruby so that I can build awesome apps that do cool things, and then break them. I’m leaving my current job next month to start an intensive training program. By the end of the summer, I’ll be working full time as a Ruby developer. Pretty cool, eh? In case you don’t know what Ruby is, it’s a programming language that’s used to be web apps – Ravelry is built with Ruby.

I won’t be posting much about the intricacies of Ruby here, because I know a lot of you don’t care about it. I will be sharing things I’ve created that make knitting more fun, or that make knitting patterns for you.
If you want to follow me on my journey to becoming a developer, check out my tumblr. It is were all of the supremely nerdy things are happening.

Congratulations, Liz! This is all really exciting.
e! That is so nerdy that it becomes awesome! What an exciting adventure for you. I don’t understand code (yet), and likely won’t understand Ruby, but I am *SO* happy for you. Is your current employer sponsoring your training?
Congratulations! Sounds interesting and fun, even though it’s a lot of work.
