Getting the clue early was like getting dessert before breakfast! Yahoo and thank you!!
Hoi nice ;-) Tomorrow will be the first day of our long Eastern Weekend so I’m glad with this early post.
In fact, I already started :-)
Now on row 6, puzzling about making a m1l next to a yarnover……
Thanks for this pattern.

Cables! Yay!! Love Cables! Now I can put aside the spindle and knit!
Hurray!!! Thank you so much for sharing this design as a KAL. For me it’s nice to have a pattern set out in little chunks so I have goals to work towards!
On a separate note, I finished my Traveling Woman shawlette over the weekend and wore it yesterday! :)
Oh, great!
I’ll leave VERY early tomorrow morning, now I can take Roxanne along and knit while DH is driving!!
Thanks a lot, looking forward to this new part/clue…
Esther
Woot! Ditto Esther for me… clue on iPad and ready for dawn departure tomorrow. Hurrah and thanks!
I just want to thank you for making the links that enlarge the chart. For those of us with older eyes, it makes an extrememly big difference. Thank you.
Thank you for the early post before the busyness of the weekend enters. I will get it printed and ready to work on, if I have a few minutes free.
I agree 1000X with Ania about the links to enlarge the tables. It makes it so much easier to read, for an ‘old’ person :)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
SWEET!! Clue is a day early!!! I agree with Suzanne, it’s dessert before breakfast ;)
Thank you so much! Looking forward to this one.

Quick Question…are the cables suppose to twist? if they are then the pattern is wrong..I just wanted to make sure it was right before I did much more!
Thanks
Zoë
Hi there, I’m working with your KAL which is really cool, btw; but I had a question. The center section of the cable center – the first few rows are stockinette , but then it went to garter – is that what’s supposed to happen?
Same question as Zoe’s, above–just want to make sure the cables are supposed to be opposite! Thanks, Liz–
Yes, the cables are supposed to be opposite in this clue.
Hi Zoe — The cables are supposed to be knit as written, and will look like S’s as you knit. — Didi
Thanks now I can continue with confidence! I love the look but wanted to make sure it was not a typo!
Have a good weekend.
Blessings
Zoë
Is it correct that the sts between the st. markers after and before each cable are knit in garter st. now ? In the first clue these sts are worked in stockinette sts.
I just want to check this before I go further.
thanks. Vera
Yes
Thank you Liz !
I just want to be sure before I go any further… Is the section between the cables intended to be garter stitch? Because clue 1 has it as stockenette. Or did I flub clue 1? This is my first mystery project and I an loving it so far. Thank you for doing this!
Doh! I really need to refresh before of hit submit. Nevermind!
So I’ve debated over the yarn for too long. It’s time to fish or cut yarn!
My biggest question is this:
My yarn is skinny. Super skinny. Not cob web by any means, but definitely more in the “lace” weight than “sock” weight.
I know that there is an option to convert the shawl to using 400 yards rather than 430, but is there (will there) be a way to make it bigger (use more yardage / do extra repeats) if necessary to compensate for an anorexic yarn?
I hope so, ’cause I’m casting on this AM, answer or no; because I do realize that you have a life, a new job -congratulations!- and a move to attend to. Much as I would love to convince myself otherwise, your job here is not to hold my hand and pick my yarn for me. I’m a big girl, I can do this.
~and if you believe that, I’ve got this great bridge to sell you~
;D
finished clue 2… beautiful!
On row 6, in the first texture section, how should the m1l be done? The first stitch in that section is worked into a yarn over, so there’s no horizontal bar to knit into.
By the way, I want to add my thanks for the very large chart! :)
I got a late start on this and began tonight. I can not put it down. What an addictive pattern.
Thanks,
Marla
Clue 2 Row 6 question: after the K2 sl, there is a K1 m1l – that K! is knit into the previous row’s YO – which means there isn’t a bar to pick up for the m1l… what should I pick up for the m1l? Hope this is a clear question… thanks – this is a fun mystery kal!
I see another person asked the same question.. sorry to pester you!
