I’ve been a busy little bee lately. Between my thesis, working, and preparing for Stitches West, I’ve hardly had a moment of peace for myself. But that’s ok, it’ll be worth it in the long run. I hope?
I’ve been focusing mostly on dyeing some of my new colors for Stitches, making sure I have plenty of everything. I have this constant fear that I will run out of everything on the first market day. While that would be fabulous in some ways, it would be extremely sad in others.
Many people before have told me that I shouldn’t tease them with abstract descriptions of colors and patterns. They demand teaser photos and sneak peeks of the things to come. For those of you unable to attend Stitches West this year, I have to apologize for these teaser photos. Rest assured, many of these colors will be available in my shop after I’ve finished Stitches West.
Same with the sneaky pattern photos. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover – it’s only about two-thirds finished. So here’s one teaser photo of Hatter’s Party Scarf.
What! I don’t want to completely give away the surprise before it is finished!
Most of you will be familiar with the colorway from an early post. It’s called Down the Rabbit Hole, and it is from my Alice Collection of colors. The scarf, as the name suggests, is fun, whimsical, and a little bit maddening. As with most of my patterns, it is easily adaptable to any yarn weigh, but is shown here in fingering weight yarn. The pattern for Hatter’s Party Scarf will be available for free at my Stitches West booth (#1138) for anyone who stops by! After Stitches West, the pattern will only be available with a Femme Fatale Fibers purchase.
What else do I have, you ask? Oh there is tons more. For starters, many new colors:
Ok, one of those colors isn’t technically new. The purple/black is Carmilla, my favorite leading vampire lady. But the rest are new!
I also have some old favorites, such as Let Them Eat Cake:
I’ve dyed enough of Let Them Eat Cake to gorge myself on funfetti cupcakes for awhile. There are some extra-fatty skeins with loads of color, and some “fatty lite” skeins as well. This is also a wonderful photo to show off the difference between my Mata Hari Sock (80/20 superwash merino/nylon) and my Lilith Sock (100% superwash merino). Look at how the Lilith (right) is cabled two-ply, while the Mata Hari is a more subtle, softer four-ply. Lovely. I want to eat them up! And not just because they’re named after cupcakes…
I also have some old favorites, with some new fun colors. Pictured here is the new color Second Star on the Right and an old favorite The Scarlet Letter:
Every time I dye both of these colors I have a hard time giving them up. There’s also a sneaky yet-to-be-named color lurking behind The Scarlet Letter. It’s shy, it doesn’t want to come out and play just yet.
I’ve saved my favorite new color for last: Dumbledore’s Cloak. This jaw-dropping purple is exactly the color I’ve always imagined Dumbledore to be wearing:
It is mostly a deep purple skein, with some periwinkle, lilac, and lavender throughout. I’m a sucker for purples, though. If you look closely at the picture of the drying rack above, you might be able to tell that Dumbledore’s Cloak is right next to Carmilla. There’s no such thing as too much purple in life.

That shot of the long table covered in purples and aqua made my mouth water, the cake looks yummy too. I don’t know how I’ll ever choose which one I want. I am so excited for Stitches I am doing a little dance in my chair right now!

Loved your yarn at Stitches West…picked up a skein…and the Hatter’s Party Scarf pattern.
Question on line 3 If I knit to 1 stitch before the marker, make one left… I can’t slip the marker until I knit that ..1 stitch before the marker…stitch…or am I reading it wrong?
Thanks!
Loved your booth at Stiches West. I bought a skein of a Black and pink fingering and recieved the Hatter’s party scarf pattern. I’m afraid I’m going to run out. Do you have more of that. I want to order another skein. Much thanks.
