When it came time to knit the sample sock for this pattern, I emailed a friend and asked her “What color should I knit a sock that’s named after Tobias on Arrested Development?” And she emailed me back, “Would it be too obvious to suggest blue?”
Named after Tobias Funke, would renowned “analrapist,” this sock is a little funky, a little strange, and a little confused by its path in life.
100 grams fingering weight merino or merino blend.
Little Red Bicycle – Tandem Sock (400 yards per 115 grams), 100% 2-ply superwash merino. Shown in Tobias.

Gauge and Needle
Use the needle, yarn, gauge, and stitch count that work best for you when knitting socks if in doubt.
7 sts/inch, using a US #1 (2.25mm) needle
This pattern is written cuff-down, with instructions provided for a heel flap. There are separate instructions for the right and left sock: you do not have to make them mirror images of each other, but they look kind of awesome that way. The cables should be on the outside of the foot. At the risk of sounding repetitive, the right sock has a cable on the right side of the foot and the left sock has the cable on the left side of the foot.
This pattern will go significantly faster if you cable without a cable needle.
