Today is a big day! After over a year of being worked over, brainstormed about, edited, knit, photographed, and obsessed over, I am happy to release pre-orders for my new collection of knitting patterns:

Traveling Woman:
A collection of projects for world travelers.

pre-order four patterns, $20 USD

I won’t bore you with details about the eBook here (you can read more at the end of this post). Onto the details! You can purchase patterns individually ($6/each) or the complete eBook containing four patterns, plus a special chapter on customizations ($20).

Traveling Scarf

Available in two sizes with complete instructions and photos.

Fingering weight
Long scarf
Little Red Bicycle Hipster Sock (shown in Leonidas, left), 1 skein

Worsted weight
Large stole

Extra Sizes
The pattern provides tables for additional sizes. The information is provided in a table, so you can fill-in-the-blank and easily knit the custom size of your choice. I recommend that custom sizes be knit using the grafting method. Additional sizing provided includes:

- Scarf: lace, DK, sport, worsted, aran, and bulky
- Stole: lace, fingering, DK, sport, aran, and bulky

Details
The pattern includes both written instructions and charted instructions. Instructions are given to use every single last yard of your yarn. You have two options for knitting the pattern, one of which requires grafting (the other doesn’t).

Pattern Customizations
- Custom sizing formula
- Working the entire body in lace (two lace options)
- Preventing edge flaring
- Preventing curling in narrower scarves

Special Skill Requirements
- Provisional cast on
- Grafting (optional)
- Lace knitting

Traveling Cowl

Knit in the round, available in four options.

Worsted weight
Large/loose
Fiberphile Yarns Super Squish Worsted (shown in Mossy Bank)
Small/snug (not shown)

Fingering weight
Small/snug (not shown)
Large/loose (not shown)

Details
The cowl comes in four different options depending on your yarn and cowl preference. If you prefer loose cowls, both large sizes are knit at a looser gauge, allowing the cowl to gently fall down your neck. The small/snug cowls are knit at a tighter gauge to allow for more sturdy construction. The larger cowls emphasize the lace, while the smaller cowls are built for warmth.

Pattern Customizations
– Additional yarn weights
- Recommendations for knitting flat
- Full lace cowl

Special Skills Requirements
- Knitting in the round

Traveling Socks

Knit cuff down in six different sizes.

Fingering weight
Small
Malabrigo Sock (shown in Abril)
Medium (not shown)
Large (not shown)

Sport weight
Small (not shown)
Medium (not shown)
Large (not shown)

Details
This cuff down pattern transitions from eyelets to the main Traveling Woman lace chart across the leg. The final edge chart spans the toe, with some sizes working the edge chart during the toe decreases. Separate sets of instructions, charts, and written lace are included for each size and yarn weight. The sock utilizes a heel flap and wedge toe, but provides instructions for a star toe as well.

Pattern Customizations
– Instructions for a star toe
- Modification for toe up socks
- Suggestions for rearranging charts

Special Skills Requirements
– Grafting
- Knitting in the round
- Sock skills

Traveling Woman

Bigger, better, and more sizes than ever with 5 sizes.

Please note that the original pattern will remain free, however the free version will not include updated sizes, charts, other modifications listed below.

Lace weight
Medium (not shown)

Fingering weight
Shawlette
The Plucky Knitter MCN Fingering (shown in Queensway)
Small (not shown)

Sport weight
Medium
Large
Femme Fatale Fibers Lilith Sport (shown in Echo)

Worsted weight

Details
I may or may not have gone a little overboard when I decided to re-vamp the original Traveling Woman pattern. It includes a lot of upgrades! Row-by-row stitch counts are included for all of the sizes listed in the pattern. Instructions are given for common repeat sizes, as well as a formula for custom sizing.

Pattern Customizations
– Keeping the center increase line throughout
- Estimating yardage
- Custom size formula

Special Skill Requirement
– Garter tab shawl start

Love your pattern “travelling woman” and want to order the set of patterns. But in reality, I want a print copy. So how does the ebook format work? Clearly, I am a bit behind with my technology here… *sigh*
