I finished knitting my London and Paris scarf last week and finally finished blocking it this weekend. Although, after one wear, it does need another blocking. I am quite disappointed. All that time spent blocking for nothing!

But regardless of the fact that it’s now a giant curl machine, it’s gorgeous.

The color is amazing, and the pattern was a joy to knit. Simple, easy to memorize, and produced beautiful results.

The yarn was originally going to be a pair of Bacchus socks. While I will probably knit those socks again someday, it just wasn’t working for me with this yarn. I got to the heel on the first sock before I realized I didn’t like the way it was turning out, and it would be in my best interest to frog and start something else, since I really liked the colors of this yarn.

The scarf getting ready to go out!

I used one ball of dkknits technicolor dream toes, and the scarf ended up being a little oversix feet long. It’s long enough to wrap around and tie, which makes me very happy, as you can see in this crappy picture from my over lit bathroom. If it helps you scale, I’m a 5′5″, and I have the scarf wrapped once, and tied.

The color of the yarn was absolutely gorgeous, and made making the scarf 10x more fun than I thought it would be. I haven’t made a scarf since last winter, I can’t seem to commit to them. But the color of this yarn added a depth to the scarf I didn’t think it would have, since it was with sock yarn.

The pattern is called Upstairs (Ravelry), and was originally written for a shawl. Instead of casting on enough stitches to make a shawl, I cast on enough for 3 repeats.

At first I was worried that 3 repeats would make it too skinny and it would look funny when I was wearing it, but I’m definitely glad I did 3 repeats rather than 4. The length is absolutely perfect and I know if I had cast on enough for 4 repeats, it would have been that awkward too short for a long scarf/too long for a short scarf combination.

I used 3.75mm Addi Turbo lace needles to knit the scarf, and it was quite an impressive end result.

All in all, this was an extremely successful FO (aside from the needing to be re-blocked after one wear bit).I can’t wait to wear it in London in 17 days!
