I went to my LYS last night to buy the yarn for my Hexacomb Cardigan (which I will begin knitting as soon as I finish my Tilted Duster!) and I found something that I liked at a decent price. I ended up purchasing Plymouth Jeannee (color 26 from the Spring line, and a nice light tan for the trim), which I’ve never used before, but have high hopes for. I’m not sure how the Coral color will look with my red hair, but I’m thinking it’ll be pretty fabulous.

While I was at my LYS, I made the mistake of wandering towards the Malabrigo. I’ve never actually purchased a skein of Malabrigo before (I always found it to be too expensive and never saw a color I loved), but I saw this color, Whales Road, and fell in love immediately. It was one of those “had to have it or I’ll die” moments. Really, the picture doesn’t do it justice. This yarn is unbelievably gorgeous. So I caved and bought it, going way over my allotted amount for knitting supplies this month once you factored in the Addi Turbo and the yarn I was getting for my cardigan.

When I purchased it, I had one thing in mind: One Skein Wonder by Stefanie Japel. I’ve had the pattern lying around for a week or so, just waiting for the time to be right to begin working on it, and I finally started it up last night. I finished roughly half of the shrug last night. Let me tell you, being a size small has never in my life been more beneficial than it has with my knitting! The Whales Road color way and this shrug are making me fall in love with knitting all over again. Which is how it should be, right? Nevertheless, you can be sure I’ll be finishing my One Skein Wonder tonight so I can show it off with pride at work tomorrow.
