Browsing through my inventory of knits from the last bit of 2007 and those I have completed thus far in 2008, I’m not very impressed. I haven’t exactly finished that much. It’s a little embarrassing actually, especially because I spend so much time knitting.

So I’m setting a goal for myself: I must finish at least one knitted item per month. Ideally, I’d like to finish one pair of socks and one other item. I think my ideal goal is totally doable, especially since it took me less than a week to crank out my first sock - which will be done soon. Riding the bus to work instead of driving has added two more hours of knitting into my daily life, it’s so amazing! Socks are the perfect portable project, too!

I get to cheat a little for April, since the month is almost over, but I think I worked out something that’ll be a good motivator.

By the end of May, I want to have finished my Hexacomb Cardigan and 3 socks. I’d be ambitious and say finish two pairs of socks, but I’m not sure if I can do that or not, so 3 socks it is. Currently, I have finished the foot and heel of my Anastasia-based socks, and I’m only one pattern repeat away from the armholes on my Hexacomb Cardigan. I think it’s a reasonable goal.

If you think about it, one knitted item per month isn’t very much. But, honestly, I am never knitting one item at a time. I am always working on at least 5 things, so finishing one item a month can sometimes be a bit difficult to do since I’m spreading myself out so much. But! I have faith in myself! I can do it!

I don’t think this will help decrease my stash, though…
