Last night I had a wicked craving for snickerdoodles. When I was younger my dad had the most amazing recipe, but I couldn’t quite remember how much of each ingredient I needed to put in. So I searched around for some recipes, none of which felt like they were the same. I found one that was similar and modfied it to meet the needs of my sugar addicted taste buds.
Topping: 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix.
Ingredients:
2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Preheat to 400 degrees F.
Mix the softened butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together extremely well.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the tasty sugar mixture. Mix until everything is well blended.
I’d recommend greasing your cookie sheet, but some people don’t. It’s a matter of personal choice (and whether or not you have a crappy cookie sheet). Get your hands all nice and floured up and roll the dough into little balls. Flatten them slightly and roll one side in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Make sure the cookies are spaced roughly 2 inches apart.
I cooked mine for about 10 minutes, and they came out nice and doughy.
The next morning they were just as delicious, but even better after being briefly reheated in the microwave and dipped in milk.
