I subscribed to Interweave Knits after purchasing the Spring 2008 issue and liking so many of the patterns in it. The Summer 2008 issue was supposed to be my first subscription issue (it hasn’t arrived…) and I have to say, I’m starting to rethink that subscription.

Every. single. thing. in the Summer 2008 issue is HIDEOUS. I will knit absolutely nothing from this issue, but especially not this monstrosity:

To which my friend Cate said “I almost want it just to make other people uncomfortable!” It looks like something Dolores Umbridge would reject. This is the reason people balk when I say “oh, I’ll knit you something for your birthday!” - they think they are going to get something ugly like this. Or, like this:

Which, by the way, will flatter no one, and will give them a droopy ass.

I’m sure there are many people who will disagree with me on this, but everything in this issue is ugly. The things that are moderately acceptable… well, they aren’t exactly original. They’ve already been done, and better, by other people and other magazines. I have to say, I’m disappointed. Nothing even remotely jumps out at me, let alone even looks like something I’d knit. I expected a lot more from Interweave Knits, especially after their amazing Spring 2008 issue, which I plan on making 3 things from.

EPIC FAIL, INTERWEAVE KNITS, EPIC FAIL.

I’ll be using my Summer 2008 issue (if it ever arrives) to line my cat’s litter box.

I agree! I just got a subscription too and saw the preview and I think there may be 1 thing in there I’d knit, but I’m not even sure about that. I really hope IK does not go the way of Vogue Knitting, which I canceled after subscribing for 3 years.

Well said and couldn’t agree more. I own a shop in Maine and expected a lot more from Eunny. What demographic is she trying to reach? I’m located in a college town and no one likes anything in this issue, including the younger folks. A total BOMB. Spread the word.
