This weekend had a great beginning, a good end, and a rather lackluster middle. So, I’ll briefly mention the middle, and then we can forget about it completely.
The beginning started with an early end to work on Friday so I could celebrate my friend’s loss of employment by heading to San Francisco for a girl’s night. We went to visit Anna, had a nice dinner, and went to a club called Slide, which, surprise, surprise, actually has a slide at the entryway that will take you downstairs into the club. I, being the bad ass party chick that I am, did not require any booze to take a trip down the slide, and it was the first thing I did that night. It took a few drinks before Anna and Kaity managed to make their way down the slide, but they finally made it. Several pomegranate martinis later, we headed home and passed out drunk on various pieces of furniture.
The next day I took a trip to Steve and Barry’s, where I purchased some of SJP’s clothing line, Bitten. I’m pretty sure she’s using the worst sweatshops possible, because I was able to get out with two pairs of decently fitting jeans for under $20. The store I went to was a little pathetic, and they hardly had anything, which was really disappointing, because there are tons of cute clothes online that I’ve been dying to buy.
I headed back to Davis Saturday afternoon on the train, and then the horrible middle part of my weekend started. The boyfriend and I decided to go see the new Indiana Jones movie, and no one told us that it was about aliens. Aliens. It was terrible. I want him to get his $18 back, and I was those two hours of my life returned to me. It would have been a decent movie if it wasn’t about aliens and if it didn’t look like it had $5 props and graphics. Moving on…
The end was fabulous. I finished my Monkey Socks and cast on for my Leaf Lace Scarf with my Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock. I’m not a huge fan of the colorway, it’s one of those that looks much better in skein than knit. However, it does make for a lovely lace pattern. Please excuse my terrible Blackberry photo, as I am at work and do not have wifi on my digital camera:
That picture is fairly close to the actual color of the yarn. I’ve had some extreme difficulties working with this ball of yarn, too. I knit a complete sock that I absolutely hated and frogged, and then I tried to find other suitable projects and nothing was working. I gave up on the yarn for the two weeks I worked on my Monkeys, and I picked it back up Sunday and felt much better about it.
I was a little disappointed in the lace pattern after I’d finished the first repeat, but it really started coming together when I finished the third one on the bus today. I actually noticed today that I forgot to knit two rows before beginning the pattern (oops). I’m not sure if I’m going to pretend that I did it on purpose and call it a mod, or if I will go back later and knit on two rows of garter stitch (the more likely result).
All in all, it was a fabulous weekend, and the knitting victories more than made up for the terrible movie.
