First - check out my awesome Rav progress bars. Aren’t they cool?

California, I have a bone to pick with you. First, The Governator declares a drought in the middle of May. Second, we had a week of 100+ degree temperatures in May. This is not appropriate knitting weather!

Despite the fact that the temperatures last week were only a degree or two away from resembling the inside of a volcano, mid-eruption, I decided to knit a 100% merino hat. Yes, a hat. Not just a hat - a wool hat. A feltable wool hat in a house that does not have air conditioning.

Clearly, I was on some sort of crazy pill when I decided to cast on my Verity, but it was worth it. My hat knit fairly quickly, and I finished it Saturday, much to my delight.

Now I just have to wait for winter to roll around so I can wear it…

And then, instead of tackling one of my many UFOs, I decided to start another pair of socks. These two pictures are the front and back of the same sock, don’t get any ideas, thinking I’ve suddenly become a two-at-a-time knitter or anything.

If you think you recognize that pattern, you are probably right, it is Monkey (again). But this time, I decided to cast on a no purl version, and let me tell you, the knitting is going much faster without those pesky purls. Since taking those pictures Sunday morning, I finished turning the heel, so they are a little inaccurate as far as progress goes, but they work for color. I love pooling effect in this yarn. It actually has stripes that wind in spirals around the leg of the sock, it’s gorgeous. Becky is such a talent!

In non-knitting news, because I am an avid Mac and smartphone user, I was planning on getting an iPhone yesterday. Why yesterday, you ask? Well, that would be because my contract with T-Mobile expired yesterday and I was reading to make the switch for the 3G iPhone. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love T-Mobile (their emails are so damn sweet they give me cavities), but they can’t get me the iPhone. My Blackberry Pearl doesn’t sync properly with my Mac, and I’ve had it for quite awhile now, so it is time to finally get the phone I’ve been coveting for year.

Except… they’re sold out.

Everywhere.

Which means that this Friday, I will be waking up at about 6AM and hiking my happy little butt over to our local AT&T store to purchase an iPhone. I have that day off from work, so I see no reason to not go buy it. Other than rampant consumerism, of course.

Sez the Apple Employee:

Just make sure you take with you your TMobile account info (including password, if there is one), and a credit card. AT&T sometimes requires a deposit for new accounts.

And good luck! I only upgraded to the new software on my old one, and it’s pretty nifty so far. :)
