Sunday was my birthday. Yay for aging. I celebrated by going to the pumpkin patch and purchasing more pumpkins than I actually need. I picked the big one right off the vine from the field! I’m such a farmer.
Don’t ask me why I need 7 pumpkins. I actually bought 8, but I gave one to my mom since she wasn’t feeling well.
And with birthdays come gifts. This year’s gift from my mom was a 24″ Ashford Rigid Heedle Loom. I have a feeling my knitting is going to fall by the wayside now that I have a loom…
I’m actually learning how to weave on a floor loom in a class I’m taking at the center where I teach knitting. Which means, hopefully, by the time I get my loom in the mail I’ll know how to do all the of necessary things to use it ASAP. I’ve already done my warp and set up my loom in class, so I feel like I have a strong footing to get started on.
I leave for London in 23 days, which gives me plenty of time to finish Cate’s fingerless gloves and my scarf. I can, of course, finish Cate’s gloves on the plane, but my scarf needs to be blocked, so it must be finished before my departure so I can wear it in Paris!
I purchased 3 skeins of Dream in Color Classy in Happy Forest from a fellow Ravelry user at a steep discount a few weeks ago. I was able to relax it this weekend, and I’m hoping to cast on for a pullover after I finish a few products on the needles.
… but I’m sure this will all change when my loom arrives.
I think I shall name her Gertrude.
I’ve also had some chances to purchase a few skeins of yarn and a bit of fiber. I finally got paid for my TA position, so I had some “fun money” on my hands. Unfortunately I can’t spend as much as I used to, but it’s still nice to be able to buy a few things every once in awhile, despite my great state of poverty.
I also had a few coupons from the Olympics the dkknits sock clubbers participated in, so I got these at a very nice price! It made my wallet and my stash very happy.
Oh - and may I just say that the first skein is screaming out to me to become a Lace Ribbon Scarf?
I ordered three more skeins, but they haven’t arrived yet. I love Becky’s yarn! If you’re a sock knitter or a spinner, be sure to check out her etsy shop.
