I’m pretty sure I’m not the first knitter to make that bad joke, but I digress.

Before I go into the “weekend”, I should probably share my FO. I finished my Clapotis last week, but totally forgot to publish photos of it. I actually ran out of yarn about 1/3 of the way through the decrease section, and there was no way I could have done much more. I like the end result, even if it is a bit unbalanced. I’ve decided to block it, it’s a bit too tube-y for my taste.

[Clapotis] Finished, needs blocking

Now back to the weekend. This weekend wasn’t very exciting, not much happened. I spent Friday evening in with Boyfriend, watching movies and drafting fiber, which I later spun some of.

Other than my spinning, this weekend was filled with nothing but WIPs. I cast on for Cate’s fingerless mitts, which I have yet to take any pictures of. I was originally going for some Dr. Horrible Penny-style striped mitts, but I’ve decided to do a fair isle argyle-like pattern instead.

[Smart Monkey]I’ve also been working diligently on my Smart Monkey socks, but haven’t managed to finish them just yet. To be honest, I’m a bit bored by the Monkey pattern, even though I’m doing the no prul variation this time. As much as I love the stitch pattern and its gorgeous results, I already know how it is going to turn out (for the most part). This sock is almost identical in terms of color patterning to the first one, too. The striping and pooling aren’t surprises anymore, they just are.

I love them: the yarn, the color, the stitch pattern, they are so perfect! And yet, I can’t bring myself to finish those last 3 pattern repeats. I could blame it on the heat making it too difficult to knit, or I could blame it on the fact that I’m busy with BitchBuzz, but that’s not it. I’m just bored with them.

[Bellatrix's Diamonds] I really enjoy this pattern! And of course, this led me to break my cardinal rule of sock knitting: I cast on for a second pair of socks before finishing the first pair. I don’t normally work on more than one pair of socks at a time, simply because I get them done faster if I work on one set at a time - at least, that’s my theory, I’ve never actually done two pairs at a time. Anyways. I cast on a pair of Bellatrix socks (Ravelry link, sorry!), which I have been considering for some time now. They’re were always at the bottom of my queue, waiting underneath the more appealing sock patterns, but I finally decided it was time.

And I’m glad I cast them on. They are a very enjoyable knit. A bit tedious on the rows where you have to drop the YOs, but other than that, fun, funky, and unique. Despite the fact I’m knitting them on US 0s, they are flying off my needles!

I took some time off from my Yogini Bolero, but let me tell you, all it took was one try on and me traipsing in front of my mirror before the perfect little raglan increases seduced me into picking it up again. I should, hopefully, finish it by the end of the week.

[Yogini Bolero] Delicious raglan increases

So I guess that means I have to finish my Smart Monkey socks by Thursday (for my July pair), and my Yogini Bolero before the next edition of Weekend Knits. Wish me luck!

Gotta love the Bellatrix. But beware, I got caught in that boredom trap with them as well!
